The National Football League has once again spit in the face of half its fanbase by announcing that aging punk rockers Green Day will perform at the Super Bowl opening ceremony, doubling down on their anti-Trump political messaging just weeks into President Trump's second term.
Green Day, whose best days were behind them before most current NFL players were even born, joins fellow Trump-hater Bad Bunny in what's shaping up to be the most politically divisive Super Bowl lineup in recent memory. Both acts have been vocal critics of President Trump and his America First agenda.
This tone-deaf decision comes as millions of patriotic Americans are celebrating Trump's return to the White House and his promise to restore American greatness. Instead of uniting the country around America's most-watched sporting event, the NFL brass seems determined to alienate the very fans who made football America's pastime.
Haven't They Learned Anything?
You'd think after years of declining ratings during the Colin Kaepernick kneeling controversy and other woke political stunts, NFL executives would have gotten the message: Americans want football, not lectures from millionaire entertainers and athletes about how terrible their country is.
But apparently, the league's corporate suits are more interested in virtue signaling to their elite friends in Hollywood and the mainstream media than respecting the working-class Americans who fill stadiums and buy jerseys.
Green Day's selection is particularly insulting given their history of Trump-bashing performances and their embrace of radical left-wing causes. This is the same band that has used their platform to promote the very globalist agenda that President Trump was elected to dismantle.
A Slap in the Face to Patriots
The timing couldn't be worse – or more deliberate. As President Trump works to secure our border, revitalize American manufacturing, and restore law and order, the NFL chooses to platform artists who have spent years undermining these very goals.
American football fans deserve better than having anti-American propaganda shoved down their throats during what should be a celebration of athletic excellence and national unity. Will patriots finally say enough is enough and hit the NFL where it hurts – their bottom line?
