Border Patrol Commander-at-Large Gregory Bovino stood firmly behind his agents Sunday after they were forced to use deadly force against 37-year-old Alex Pretti, who approached Department of Homeland Security personnel with a handgun in Minneapolis Saturday.
"They did a good job taking down Pretti before he could shoot law enforcement," Bovino declared, refusing to bow to the inevitable left-wing narrative that will paint this armed suspect as a victim.
According to DHS officials, agents had no choice but to open fire when Pretti advanced on them while armed with a handgun. The incident highlights the dangerous reality our law enforcement officers face daily – especially as they work to clean up the mess left by four years of Biden's open-border catastrophe.
Another Product of Failed Immigration Policy?
While mainstream media will undoubtedly focus on questioning the agents' actions, the real question patriots should be asking is this: How did we get to a point where armed confrontations with immigration enforcement have become routine?
The answer lies in the previous administration's reckless policies that emboldened criminals and created a culture of resistance to lawful immigration enforcement. For four years, Biden's regime sent the message that our immigration laws were merely suggestions.
"Our agents shouldn't have to face armed suspects just for doing their jobs," said one Border Patrol source who requested anonymity. "But that's the reality we're dealing with thanks to years of anti-law enforcement rhetoric."
Now, under President Trump's restored leadership, agents are finally getting the backing they deserve from command leadership like Bovino, who refuses to throw his people under the bus for politically correct optics.
Media Double Standard on Full Display
Watch how the same media that cheered on violent Antifa riots will now scrutinize every second of this encounter. They'll demand investigations, call for "reform," and push the narrative that law enforcement was somehow wrong for protecting themselves from an armed threat.
But Commander Bovino's statement sends a clear message: those days of apologizing for doing the job are over. When someone approaches federal agents with a weapon, they're going to face the consequences of their actions.
This is what real leadership looks like – standing behind your people when they're forced to make split-second decisions to protect themselves and the public. It's about time we had commanders willing to tell the truth instead of cowering before the woke mob.
