Just ten days into President Trump's second term, the Republican establishment is already showing its true colors. Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina has announced his opposition to Trump's pick for Federal Reserve chair, Kevin Warsh, in what can only be described as another classic RINO betrayal of the America First agenda.
According to a Politico report, Tillis is positioning himself as the roadblock to Warsh's confirmation, despite Trump's decisive electoral mandate and clear support from the American people. This is the same playbook we've seen before – Republicans who campaign as Trump supporters but govern like Never-Trump establishment hacks.
The Swamp Never Changes
What makes this betrayal particularly galling is the timing. Americans voted overwhelmingly for Trump's economic vision in 2024, rejecting the disastrous Biden policies that led to crushing inflation and economic stagnation. Yet here comes Tillis, apparently more concerned with protecting the Federal Reserve's independence than delivering on the promises that got Republicans elected.
This is exactly what Trump warned about during his campaign – the "tragedy of the Republican commons" where individual senators prioritize their own political calculations over the greater good of the conservative movement and the American people.
"We didn't send these people to Washington to obstruct President Trump's agenda. We sent them there to implement it," said one frustrated GOP voter from North Carolina.
Tillis's opposition reveals the fundamental problem plaguing the Republican Party: too many senators still think it's 2015, when they could get away with virtue signaling to the mainstream media while betraying their own voters.
What This Really Means
Make no mistake – this isn't about Kevin Warsh's qualifications or the Federal Reserve's supposed independence. This is about whether the Republican Party will fully embrace Trump's mandate or continue to play footsie with the same establishment forces that gave us decades of failed economic policies.
Patriots need to ask themselves: how many more times will we allow RINOs like Tillis to sabotage the America First agenda? And more importantly, what are we going to do about it in 2026?
