In a stunning display of ingratitude, hundreds of Danish veterans gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen Saturday to protest President Trump's strategic plans for Greenland – apparently forgetting that American taxpayers have been subsidizing their defense for over 70 years.
The so-called "silent protest" at Copenhagen's Kastellet fortress was anything but silent in its message: Denmark somehow thinks they can dictate American strategic interests while hiding behind NATO's Article 5 protection that We the People have been funding all along.
Let's get the facts straight, folks. Trump isn't "threatening" to take over Greenland – he's making a perfectly reasonable strategic proposal that would benefit both nations. Meanwhile, these same Danish veterans have been content to let American forces do the heavy lifting in global security while Denmark contributes a measly 2% of GDP to NATO (and only recently at that).
The Hypocrisy is Staggering
These protesters claim Trump is "belittling their combat contributions," but where exactly were these massive Danish contributions when America was fighting terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq? How many Danish divisions held the line against Soviet expansion during the Cold War?
The truth is uncomfortable for Copenhagen: Greenland's strategic value is immense, sitting at the crossroads of Arctic shipping routes and containing vast mineral wealth that China desperately wants to control. Trump is thinking like the America First leader we elected him to be.
"Denmark has been freeloading off American military protection while lecturing us about our strategic decisions. That ends now."
This protest reveals the entitled European mindset that Trump has been dismantling since day one of his first term. They want American protection, American investment, and American sacrifice – but the moment we assert our own national interests, they throw tantrums like spoiled children.
Patriots, this is exactly why we needed Trump back in the White House. While Biden would have apologized and sent Denmark more foreign aid, Trump is putting America's strategic needs first for once.
The question isn't whether Denmark likes Trump's Greenland proposal. The question is: why should American taxpayers continue subsidizing the defense of countries that protest our leadership while benefiting from our protection?
