CRINGE ALERT: Democrat EMBARRASSES Himself Comparing Islamic Law to Conservative Agenda

In what can only be described as a stunning display of liberal delusion, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) made a complete fool of himself during a House Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday by comparing Islamic sharia law to the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025.

The Democrat's ridiculous comparison came during the Republican-led "Sharia-Free America" hearing, which examined efforts to impose Islamic religious law in American communities. Instead of taking the serious issue of foreign legal systems threatening our Constitution seriously, Cohen decided to play partisan politics.

"That sounds like..." Cohen began, before drawing his laughable parallel between a religious legal code that stones women and executes homosexuals to a conservative policy blueprint focused on limiting government and restoring constitutional principles.

The comparison immediately drew laughter from the hearing room - and for good reason. Anyone with half a brain can see the absurdity of equating a medieval legal system that denies basic human rights with a thoroughly American conservative agenda.

Liberal Logic at Its Finest

This is exactly the kind of unhinged rhetoric we've come to expect from Democrats who can't defend their failed policies on the merits. When faced with legitimate concerns about protecting American legal traditions, they resort to false equivalencies and partisan attacks.

Project 2025 seeks to restore constitutional governance, reduce the administrative state, and return power to the American people. Sharia law, on the other hand, represents a fundamentally incompatible legal system that contradicts our most basic constitutional principles.

"The fact that a sitting congressman can't tell the difference between American conservatism and Islamic law tells you everything you need to know about today's Democrat Party."

While Republicans work to protect American communities from the encroachment of foreign legal systems, Democrats like Cohen would rather score cheap political points than defend our Constitution.

Patriots across the country are watching as the Trump administration works to restore American values and legal traditions. Meanwhile, Democrats continue to embarrass themselves with displays like Cohen's circus act.

I've been saying this for years - they don't understand the difference between supporting Judeo-Christian principles that founded our nation and imposing religious law. My kids' school tried to pull similar nonsense at a board meeting last month.

This is exactly the kind of absurd false equivalency we've come to expect from the left. There's a massive difference between protecting constitutional values and implementing religious law.

Couldn't agree more. They always resort to these ridiculous comparisons when they can't defend their actual positions.

Absolutely embarrassing for the Democratic party.

The mental gymnastics required to make this comparison are Olympic-level. These people have lost all sense of perspective.

Did anyone else watch this trainwreck live? I actually felt secondhand embarrassment for the guy.

This is why normal Americans are walking away from the Democrat party in droves. They've completely lost touch with reality and basic decency.

Former Democrat here - this kind of rhetoric is exactly what opened my eyes to how extreme they've become.

When you can't win on the merits of your argument, resort to inflammatory comparisons that make no logical sense. Classic leftist playbook right there.

What specific comparison did he make exactly? I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole thing after seeing the headlines.

He basically said supporting traditional family values is the same as wanting theocracy. Completely unhinged.
