The mask is finally off. Democrats are privately admitting what conservatives have known all along - their opposition to voter ID laws isn't about "voter suppression" or "civil rights." It's pure political calculation because they know the American people are overwhelmingly against them on this common-sense issue.
Washington Examiner Executive Editor Bob Cusack dropped a bombshell revelation that should have every patriotic American asking: If voter ID is so popular with voters, why are Democrats fighting it tooth and nail?
"I think it's really because the Democratic base — a lot of Democrats, and I've talked to a few of them" recognize voter ID as a losing issue politically, Cusack explained. This comes as President Trump's Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act continues building momentum in the Republican-controlled Congress.
The Numbers Don't Lie
Poll after poll shows that upwards of 70-80% of Americans support requiring photo ID to vote. That includes Democrats, Republicans, independents, and every racial demographic. So why the resistance from Democratic leadership?
The answer is obvious to anyone paying attention. Democrats have built their electoral strategy around loose election laws that make it easier for ineligible voters to cast ballots. They know that tightening these laws - requiring the same ID you need to buy alcohol, board a plane, or enter a federal building - would hurt their chances at the ballot box.
"Democratic leaders are resisting voter ID laws despite broad public support," Cusack noted, highlighting the party's willingness to ignore their own voters' preferences.
This is the same party that screamed about "threats to democracy" for four years while simultaneously opposing the most basic election integrity measures that every other developed nation takes for granted.
Trump Administration Delivers
Meanwhile, President Trump's SAVE Act represents exactly the kind of America First approach to election security that got him re-elected. The legislation would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and mandate voter ID nationwide - measures so reasonable that even many Democrats privately support them.
But their leaders? They're stuck defending the indefensible because they know secure elections mean fewer Democrat victories. How's that for putting party over country?
The question Patriots should be asking their representatives is simple: If you're not cheating, why are you so afraid of showing ID to vote?
