House Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans are finally taking action against the swamp – literally – as they launch a full investigation into how Washington DC's water authority dumped a staggering 243 million gallons of raw sewage into the Potomac River.

In an exclusive letter first obtained by the Washington Examiner, Chairman Brett Guthrie is demanding answers from DC Water about the catastrophic failures that led to this environmental disaster. The key question? Could this massive contamination have been prevented if DC's bureaucrats had actually done their jobs?

This is exactly the kind of government incompetence that President Trump's second term was elected to clean up. While the left preaches about climate change and environmental protection, their own agencies are literally poisoning America's waterways through sheer negligence.

Liberal Hypocrisy on Full Display

Think about the irony here, Patriots. The same Democrats who want to shut down American energy production and force us into expensive green energy boondoggles can't even manage basic sewage treatment in their own backyard. If they can't handle waste management in DC, how can we trust them with America's entire energy grid?

"This investigation will get to the bottom of whether DC Water's failures put public health at risk and what they're doing to prevent future disasters," a committee source told the Washington Examiner.

The Potomac River serves millions of Americans, providing drinking water and recreation for families across the region. But DC's bureaucratic bungling has now contaminated this vital waterway with enough sewage to fill nearly 400 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

This is what happens when government grows too big and accountability disappears. Under the Trump-Vance administration's government efficiency initiatives led by Elon Musk, it's time to drain the swamp – starting with the agencies that are literally creating environmental disasters through their incompetence.

How many more "accidents" will it take before Americans demand real accountability from these failed institutions? The House GOP investigation is just the beginning.

FINALLY someone is holding DC accountable for their environmental disasters! This is exactly why we need Republican oversight - Democrats talk about climate change but then dump 243 MILLION gallons of sewage into our waterways.

Exactly! The hypocrisy is unreal. They want to regulate every aspect of our lives but can't even manage basic infrastructure.

243 million gallons is an astronomical amount - that's not an accident or equipment failure, that's gross negligence. Hope the GOP keeps digging until they get real accountability.

If this happened in a red state, the media would be screaming about it 24/7. But since it's DC, crickets from the mainstream press until House Republicans force the issue.

How much taxpayer money has DC Water received over the years? Where did it all go if their infrastructure is this broken?

Probably went to DEI consultants and administrative bloat instead of actual infrastructure improvements.

I fish the Potomac regularly and noticed the water quality has been terrible lately. Now I know why - this is absolutely disgusting and someone needs to be held responsible.

This is a real environmental crisis, not the made-up ones the left usually pushes. Raw sewage kills fish, contaminates drinking water, and destroys ecosystems.
