While patriotic Americans cheer for Team USA at the Milan Olympics, one of the most disgraceful stories continues to unfold on the slopes. Eileen Gu, the Stanford student who sold out her own country to compete for communist China, is once again making headlines—and not for the right reasons.
The 23-year-old traitor just won silver in freestyle skiing slopestyle while representing the Chinese Communist Party, and she's favored to medal in additional events. But here's what makes this even more nauseating: she's doing it while cashing checks from American companies like Red Bull and Tiffany & Co., making her the fourth-highest-paid female athlete globally.
Think about that for a moment, patriots. This woman abandoned the country that gave her every opportunity, chose to represent a regime that oppresses its own people and threatens American interests daily, yet she's still profiting handsomely from American capitalism. Talk about having your cake and eating it too.
Time magazine even put this Benedict Arnold on their February cover, apparently celebrating someone who turned her back on the red, white, and blue for communist red.
What's perhaps most infuriating is Gu's complete lack of remorse. She shows zero concern about the message she's sending to young Americans: that loyalty to country doesn't matter as long as the price is right. Under President Trump's America First agenda, we're seeing a renewed emphasis on patriotism and putting American interests first—making Gu's betrayal even more stark by comparison.
While our brave American athletes compete with pride for the stars and stripes, Gu skis for a regime that harvests organs, commits genocide against Uyghurs, and actively works to undermine American democracy. Yet she continues to model, spokesperson deals with American companies, and attend one of our premier universities.
The question every patriotic American should be asking is simple: why are we allowing someone who chose China over America to continue profiting from American success? It's time for these companies to wake up and stop rewarding treason with lucrative contracts.
