The same tired leftist playbook is being rolled out again. Nine suspected members of a Texas antifa terrorist cell are now claiming they were engaged in "peaceful protest" as they stand trial on federal terrorism charges for plotting to assassinate Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel.
Sound familiar, Patriots? It should – because this is the exact same propaganda narrative that antifa and their mainstream media allies pushed during the destructive riots of 2020, when cities burned and Americans were terrorized in the streets.
These aren't peaceful protesters, folks. These are domestic terrorists who allegedly planned an assassination mission targeting ICE agents at a detention center. But just like the criminals who looted, burned, and destroyed American communities four years ago, they're hiding behind the "peaceful protest" shield that the left has weaponized to protect violent extremists.
The Left's Favorite Defense Strategy
The defendants' attorneys are deploying this familiar left-wing phrase because they know how effective it's been in the past. Remember how the media called the 2020 riots "mostly peaceful protests" while buildings burned in the background? Remember how Democrats and their allies excused billions in damage as legitimate political expression?
Now these alleged terrorists think they can use the same playbook to escape justice for planning to murder federal immigration officers – the very officers working to protect American communities under President Trump's renewed deportation efforts.
This case represents everything wrong with how the left operates: violence disguised as virtue, terrorism wrapped in the flag of social justice, and assassination plots rebranded as activism.
Under the Trump-Vance administration, we're finally seeing real accountability for domestic terrorism. Unlike the previous regime that coddled antifa while targeting parents at school board meetings, this administration recognizes the real threats facing Americans.
