Sports commentator Jason Whitlock delivered a scathing rebuke of former U.S. women's soccer player Megan Rapinoe after she criticized President Trump's congratulatory call to the victorious U.S. men's hockey team, calling her response "childish" and emblematic of everything wrong with woke athletics.

The controversy erupted after a viral video showed FBI Director nominee Kash Patel putting President Trump on speaker phone in the Team USA locker room following their historic Olympic hockey victory. While millions of Americans celebrated the patriotic moment, Rapinoe couldn't resist injecting her tired political grievances into what should have been a unifying celebration.

"I can't believe how people are reacting to this," Rapinoe complained, suggesting she never would have allowed Trump or Patel into a locker room during her playing days. The comment perfectly encapsulates the bitter, divisive attitude that has poisoned women's soccer and turned off countless American fans.

"This is exactly the kind of childish, petty response we've come to expect from Megan Rapinoe," Whitlock fired back. "Here you have the President of the United States congratulating American athletes for representing our country with pride, and she finds a way to make it about her political hatred."

Whitlock's criticism strikes at the heart of what many Americans see as a fundamental problem with modern athletics – the injection of woke politics into spaces that should celebrate American excellence and unity. While the hockey team embraced their moment of national recognition, Rapinoe demonstrated why her brand of activism has become so toxic to sports fans.

Tale of Two Teams

The contrast couldn't be starker. On one side, you have a men's hockey team that proudly accepted congratulations from their Commander-in-Chief after achieving Olympic glory for America. On the other, you have a bitter former player who can't stand seeing athletes actually respect the office of the presidency.

This is the same Megan Rapinoe who spent years disrespecting the flag, attacking traditional American values, and using her platform to divide rather than unite. Is anyone really surprised she's upset about athletes showing respect for President Trump?

Patriots across America are celebrating our Olympic heroes – as they should be. It's time for woke athletes like Rapinoe to step aside and let real champions represent what America is all about.

Does anyone know if other members of the women's soccer team felt the same way, or was this just Rapinoe's decision? I'd hate to think the whole team was on board with snubbing the President.

What exactly did she think she would accomplish by rejecting a congratulatory call from the President? Just seems petty and divisive to me.

It's all about virtue signaling to her woke fan base. Has nothing to do with actually serving the country she represented.

Finally someone with a platform calling out her nonsense!

As someone who coached youth sports for 15 years, I always taught my players to respect the office of the President regardless of who holds it. Rapinoe is setting a terrible example for young athletes.

I served 20 years in the military and it breaks my heart to see athletes who represent America on the world stage act this way. You don't have to like the President personally, but show some respect for the office and the country that gave you the opportunity to compete.

Jason Whitlock is absolutely right on this one. Rapinoe can't help herself but make everything political, even when the President is trying to congratulate American athletes.

Exactly! It's called having some class and representing your country with dignity.

Whitlock has been one of the few sports commentators willing to push back against the woke mob in athletics. More people need to speak up like he does.
