Rep. Bennie Thompson, the 78-year-old Mississippi Democrat who led the partisan January 6th Committee's witch hunt against President Trump, easily secured his party's nomination Tuesday night in a landslide primary victory that proves one simple truth: the swamp takes care of its own.

Thompson, who has been feeding at the congressional trough since 1993 – that's over three decades, folks – faced virtually no opposition in Mississippi's 2nd Congressional District primary. At 78 years old, this career politician shows no signs of stepping aside, despite spending the last several years obsessing over President Trump instead of serving his constituents.

Remember, this is the same Bennie Thompson who turned the January 6th Committee into a prime-time television circus, complete with Hollywood producers and pre-planned testimonies designed to damage Trump's 2024 campaign. While real Americans were struggling with Biden's inflation and border crisis, Thompson was busy playing political theater for the cameras.

Another Swamp Creature Rewarded

Thompson's easy victory perfectly illustrates everything wrong with Washington's political establishment. Here's a man who spent more energy investigating patriotic Americans than addressing the real issues facing his district – poverty, crime, and lack of economic opportunity.

Instead of focusing on bringing jobs and prosperity to Mississippi's 2nd District, Thompson made himself the face of the Democrats' vendetta against President Trump and the 75 million Americans who voted for him. His committee recommended criminal charges against Trump while ignoring real crimes committed by Democrats.

Now, as President Trump begins his second term focused on making America great again, Thompson prepares for another stint in Congress where he'll undoubtedly continue obstructing the America First agenda that voters overwhelmingly endorsed in 2024.

Republicans are still determining their nominee to challenge Thompson in November. Whoever emerges better be ready to remind voters exactly what Thompson represents: decades of failed leadership, partisan politics, and a man more interested in attacking Trump than serving Mississippi families.

The question for Mississippi voters is simple: Do you want another six years of Bennie Thompson's swamp politics, or is it time for fresh leadership that puts America First?

The J6 committee violated so many constitutional principles it wasn't even funny. No cross-examination, no due process, just a kangaroo court.

This is exactly what's wrong with our system - career politicians who have been in office for DECADES! Thompson has been feeding at the taxpayer trough since the 90s and what does Mississippi have to show for it?

Term limits can't come soon enough. These swamp creatures think they own their seats!

I watched some of those J6 hearings and it was clear they had already decided the outcome before they even started. Pure political witch hunt designed to interfere with the 2024 election.

78 years old and still playing partisan games instead of actually helping his constituents. The J6 committee was nothing but political theater designed to hurt Trump.

Swamp creature is right! These people never retire, they just keep collecting paychecks while America burns.

How is this guy still getting elected? What's the voter turnout like in his district?

Low information voters unfortunately. Plus gerrymandering keeps him safe in a D+10 district.
