Tennessee Republicans just stabbed their own voters in the back, watering down what should have been a straightforward bill to keep illegal aliens out of public schools. In a stunning display of RINO weakness, the GOP-controlled House passed a neutered version of SB 836 on Monday that does absolutely nothing to protect Tennessee taxpayers.

The original bill was simple and effective: allow public schools to deny enrollment to illegal aliens. But after the establishment Republicans got their hands on it, the final version merely allows schools to ask for proof of legal presence—with zero enforcement mechanism. It's like putting up a "No Trespassing" sign with invisible ink.

The watered-down substitute passed 70-25, proving that even in deep-red Tennessee, the swamp creatures are alive and well. These so-called "conservatives" had the chance to put American children first and instead chose to bow down to the open-borders lobby.

Another Slap in the Face to Taxpayers

While President Trump is working tirelessly to secure our border and implement the largest deportation operation in American history, Tennessee RINOs are undermining him at every turn. They're essentially rolling out the welcome mat for illegal aliens while forcing hardworking Tennessee families to foot the bill.

"This is exactly the kind of establishment betrayal that President Trump was elected to fight," said one frustrated parent. "We send these people to Nashville to represent us, not to cave to the woke mob."

The gutless final version requires each Local Education Agency to develop policies for requesting documentation, but without any teeth behind it. What's the point of asking for papers if you can't do anything when someone doesn't have them?

This is what happens when Republicans care more about being liked by the mainstream media than protecting their own constituents. Tennessee voters deserve representatives who will stand up for American children and American taxpayers—not politicians who fold like cheap lawn chairs the moment they face pressure.

It's time for Tennessee patriots to remember which legislators sold them out when primary season rolls around. Are you going to hold these RINOs accountable?

My local elementary school is already at 110% capacity and they're talking about adding portable classrooms. Meanwhile these politicians want to make the problem worse by refusing to enforce basic common sense policies.

The swamp exists at every level of government, not just DC. Time to drain Nashville too!

Our tax dollars should go to educating OUR children first. Period. These legislators need to remember who they work for.

Exactly right. Every dollar spent on illegal immigration is a dollar not spent on American families.

Why do we even bother voting Republican anymore when they act just like Democrats once they get to Nashville?

Absolutely disgusting betrayal of the voters who put them in office.

As an educator, I see firsthand how overcrowded classrooms hurt American students. We're already stretched thin with resources and now we can't even prioritize our own citizens' children?

This is exactly why we need to primary these RINOs! They campaign as conservatives then cave to the establishment every single time.

Couldn't agree more. I'm keeping a list of who voted to water this down for next election cycle.

Can someone explain what specific changes they made to weaken the bill? I want to know exactly how they sold us out this time.

They removed the verification requirements and added a bunch of loopholes that basically gut the enforcement mechanisms.
