The irony is almost too perfect to believe. Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who just days ago called President Trump a "barbarian" for taking aggressive action against Caribbean drug traffickers, is now reportedly under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice for his own alleged drug trafficking ties.
According to a bombshell New York Times report, the DOJ is actively investigating Petro's connections to the narcotics trade that has plagued his country and flooded American streets with deadly drugs. Three sources with knowledge of the investigation confirmed the probe to the Times.
The timing couldn't be more telling. Petro launched his verbal assault on Trump after the President authorized lethal strikes on boats identified by U.S. intelligence as participating in drug trafficking operations in the Caribbean. Instead of applauding efforts to stop the poison flowing into American communities, Petro chose to attack the President and even warned against reviving "the age of the Crusades."
The Swamp Strikes Back
This investigation raises serious questions about why foreign leaders are so desperate to protect drug trafficking operations. Could it be because they're profiting from the misery being inflicted on American families?
While Petro was busy calling Trump names and defending drug runners, Trump was doing what he promised: putting America First and taking real action to stop the flow of narcotics that kill over 100,000 Americans every year.
"It's remarkable how quickly these anti-Trump foreign leaders reveal their true colors when we actually start enforcing our laws and protecting American lives,"
one administration source noted.
This is exactly why Trump won a decisive mandate from the American people. Patriots are sick and tired of foreign leaders who get rich off America's suffering while lecturing us about morality. The Colombian president's alleged ties to the very drug trade he's defending should surprise no one.
Trump's aggressive stance against narco-trafficking isn't "barbaric" – it's exactly what American voters demanded. And if foreign leaders don't like it, maybe they should clean up their own countries instead of enabling the cartels destroying ours.
