In what can only be described as a spectacular own-goal, Democrat Senators Chuck Schumer and Raphael Warnock just handed Republicans the perfect argument for election integrity legislation by openly admitting that noncitizen voting exists in America.
During heated Senate debate over the SAVE America Act—legislation that would require proof of citizenship to vote—both Democrats acknowledged that illegal voting by noncitizens is indeed happening. Their defense? It's supposedly too rare to justify doing anything about it.
Let that sink in, Patriots. These are the same Democrats who spent years screaming that questioning election integrity was tantamount to treason. Now they're casually admitting that yes, people who aren't legally allowed to vote are casting ballots, but hey, no big deal!
The Mask Slips
Schumer's admission is particularly damning given his party's relentless attacks on anyone who dared suggest our elections might not be perfectly secure. For years, Democrats and their media allies branded election integrity advocates as "conspiracy theorists" and "election deniers."
But when push comes to shove and they're trying to kill common-sense legislation, suddenly they're willing to acknowledge what millions of Americans already knew: our elections have serious vulnerabilities.
"This is exactly why President Trump and Republicans have been fighting for election integrity measures," said one GOP aide familiar with the legislation. "Democrats just proved our point better than we ever could."
The SAVE America Act would simply require Americans to prove they're citizens before voting—something that should be as basic as showing ID to buy alcohol. But Democrats are fighting it tooth and nail, apparently preferring a system where illegal voting happens but goes unchecked.
Too Rare to Stop?
Warnock's argument that noncitizen voting is "too rare" to address is particularly galling. By that logic, we shouldn't investigate bank robbery because it's relatively uncommon, or ignore shoplifting because most people pay for their goods.
Every illegal vote cancels out a legal vote from an American citizen. Even one is too many in a constitutional republic that depends on election integrity.
With Republicans now controlling Congress and President Trump back in the White House, will Democrats finally stop obstructing basic election security measures? Or will they continue fighting legislation they just admitted addresses a real problem?
