The Democratic Party's decades-long love affair with labor icon Cesar Chavez is imploding spectacularly as sexual abuse allegations against the deceased United Farm Workers leader force his former admirers to scramble for cover.
For years, Democrats treated Chavez like a saint. Barack Obama dedicated a national monument to him. Joe Biden hung his portrait in the Oval Office. Every March, liberal politicians lined up to praise the labor organizer during "Cesar Chavez Day" celebrations, using him as a political prop to pander to Latino voters.
But now those same Democrats are quietly backing away as abuse allegations threaten to destroy the carefully crafted narrative they've built around Chavez for political gain.
Another Democrat Hero Bites the Dust
This shouldn't surprise anyone paying attention. The left has a disturbing pattern of elevating flawed figures to saint-like status when it serves their political agenda, only to abandon them when the truth inevitably comes out.
Remember how they worshipped Michael Avenatti as their anti-Trump savior? How about their endless praise for disgraced politicians like John Edwards and Anthony Weiner? The Democrat establishment has zero ability to judge character because they're blinded by ideology and political opportunism.
"The Democratic Party repeatedly puts politics over principle, elevating anyone who advances their agenda regardless of their actual character," said one conservative political analyst.
What's particularly disgusting is how Democrats exploited Chavez's image to manipulate Latino communities for votes while apparently knowing or ignoring serious questions about his conduct. They turned a complex historical figure into a political weapon, and now that weapon is blowing up in their faces.
Where Are the Apologies?
Don't hold your breath waiting for Democrats to acknowledge their mistake or apologize to the communities they misled. Instead, watch them try to memory-hole their previous praise and pretend they were never involved in the Chavez mythology.
This is exactly why Americans rejected the Democrat establishment in 2024 and put President Trump back in the White House. Patriots are sick of being lectured by hypocrites who can't even properly vet their own heroes.
How many more Democrat icons will be exposed as frauds before Americans stop trusting the left's judgment on anything?
