Toronto City Council just passed a motion demanding that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents stay out of their city. There's just one tiny problem with this brilliant display of virtue signaling: ICE literally cannot operate in Canada. They have ZERO jurisdiction there. It's like passing a resolution banning unicorns from city hall.
This is what happens when liberal ideology completely disconnects from reality, folks. These Canadian councilmembers are so desperate to oppose President Trump's common-sense immigration enforcement that they're fighting imaginary battles against a U.S. agency that can't even cross their border without going through proper diplomatic channels.
Peak Trump Derangement Syndrome Goes Global
While President Trump is busy securing America's southern border and implementing the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, liberals in Toronto are apparently so triggered they're seeing ICE agents under every maple tree. This is Trump Derangement Syndrome on steroids - international edition.
The motion comes as the Trump administration ramps up immigration enforcement across America, with record deportations already underway in just three weeks since inauguration. Instead of focusing on their own country's problems - like their struggling healthcare system and economic woes under Justin Trudeau - Toronto's council is worried about American law enforcement that literally cannot touch them.
"This is the kind of performative nonsense that defines modern liberalism," said one immigration expert. "They're solving problems that don't exist while ignoring the ones that do."
Maybe Toronto's city council should worry less about imaginary ICE raids and more about why so many of their own citizens keep trying to cross into America illegally. Just a thought.
