Another day, another Hollywood millionaire trashing the United States after cashing in on the American dream. This time it's James Cameron, the director behind Avatar and Titanic, who's decided to bite the hand that made him one of the wealthiest filmmakers in history.
Cameron, who recently relocated to New Zealand, couldn't resist taking cheap shots at America during a recent interview, claiming the U.S. is "turning its back on science" and warning it will be in "utter disarray" if another pandemic hits. The Canadian-born director says he left America seeking "sanity" – apparently finding it insufferable to live among the very people who paid billions to watch his movies.
What's particularly rich is Cameron lecturing Americans about COVID response while hiding out in New Zealand – a country that turned into an authoritarian prison island during the pandemic, locking citizens in quarantine camps and banning them from leaving their own country. That's Cameron's idea of "sanity"?
Another Elite Hypocrite Abandons Ship
This is the same tired playbook we've seen from Hollywood elites for decades. They build their fortunes off American audiences, benefit from our free market system and constitutional protections, then turn around and lecture us peasants about how terrible we are.
Cameron made over $2 billion worldwide from Avatar alone – much of that from American moviegoers. Now he's found greener pastures in New Zealand and apparently feels compelled to trash-talk his former home.
"The irony is thick: a guy who made fantasy movies about blue aliens thinks he's qualified to lecture Americans about science and pandemic preparedness."
What Cameron conveniently ignores is that under President Trump's leadership, America is finally putting science back in the hands of actual scientists instead of political bureaucrats like Anthony Fauci who flip-flopped more than a fish out of water.
Here's a radical idea, Jim: if New Zealand is so much better, stay there and keep your anti-American opinions to yourself. We'll be just fine without another condescending lecture from someone who thinks making movies about giant blue cats qualifies him as a public health expert.
