The disgusting hypocrisy of champagne socialism was on full display this weekend as wealthy foreign leftists descended on Cuba to celebrate the brutal communist regime – all while the Cuban people they claim to support continue suffering under 67 years of oppression.
Cuban dissidents and human rights activists reacted with shock and disgust at the arrival of the "Nuestra America" convoy, a parade of international celebrity leftists who jetted in to show "solidarity" with the communist dictatorship that has destroyed countless Cuban lives.
"We are not a theme park," one outraged Cuban activist declared, perfectly capturing the insult of watching privileged foreigners treat their suffering as entertainment.
Think about the sheer arrogance here, folks. These leftist celebrities – who made their fortunes under capitalist systems – are literally vacationing in luxury while championing the very ideology that keeps ordinary Cubans trapped in poverty, fear, and desperation.
"These people come here, stay in the best hotels, eat the finest food, and then lecture the world about how wonderful communism is – all while real Cubans can't even get basic necessities," said one dissident who spoke anonymously for fear of regime retaliation.
This is exactly the kind of twisted leftist elitism that President Trump has been fighting against. While these celebrity communists sip cocktails and pose for propaganda photos, Cuban families are literally risking their lives on makeshift rafts trying to escape to freedom in America.
The Trump administration has consistently stood with the Cuban people against their oppressors, unlike the previous regime that cozied up to the Castro dictatorship. These foreign leftists aren't showing solidarity with Cubans – they're showing solidarity with the very system that crushes them.
How can anyone take these people seriously when they champion an ideology they'd never actually live under themselves? It's the ultimate expression of "rules for thee, but not for me" – and the Cuban people see right through it.
The question every American should be asking: Why do leftists always seem to support the oppressors instead of the oppressed?
