The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations is calling out what she describes as 'DERANGED' behavior by the Cuban delegation after a confrontation at yesterday's U.N. meeting left an American staffer slapped and his phone knocked to the floor.
The altercation unfolded when Cuban diplomats tried to bully a U.N. clerk into cutting the U.S. ambassador's microphone, she said. A staffer intervened and began filming the scene, and that is when the situation turned physical.
'One of my staff intervened and as he started filming that altercation off to the side, he was attacked, pushed, slapped. The Cuban slapped the phone out of his hand,' the ambassador said.
Deportation Ordered
Under President Trump's leadership and on the order of Secretary Rubio, that individual will be on a flight back to Havana out of this country today, the ambassador said.
'We're not going to put up with it,' she added.
She tied the public behavior to the regime's treatment of its own people: 'If they do this on the floor of the United Nations with cameras, crowds, and diplomats, imagine what they do behind closed doors to the poor Cuban people.'
Political Prisoners and Hidden Billions
The ambassador said political prisoners had described to the world exactly how they have been treated. 'Guess what their crime was? For writing a song that the regime didn't like,' she said.
She also pointed to reporting by the Miami Herald on the Cuban industrial military complex called GAESA, saying leaked records show billions the regime is hiding abroad.
'We will not allow this place to be a mechanism for propaganda,' the ambassador said. 'We are going to tell the hard truths and hold up pictures of the private islands, the yachts, the Rolex watches, the vacations in Europe and all over the world. Once again, the regime elites are living in luxury while the people starve, and they try to use these forums to blame us.'
